ROSEMOUNT YOUTH COMMISSION
PROCEEDINGS
JUNE 25, 2025
Call to Order
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the Rosemount Youth
Commission was held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at 3:45 PM. at Steeple Center, 14375 S
Robert Trail.
Chairperson Geller called the meeting to order with Commissioners: Decker, Giray, Harvey,
Jacob, Johnson, Nowlin, Sayapal, Sell, Skaria & UIstad.
Commissioners absent were: Carter, Howie, Jacobson, John, Mason, & Raimondo.
Staff present included the following; Ruesink and Saunders.

New Business
a. Speaker: Officer Katie Ruesink
Officer Katie Ruesink gave us a timeline of her involvement in law enforcement. She elaborated on her
experiences and how they have shaped her career today. Ms. Ruesink encouraged face-to-face
communication as a key component in being a good leader, along with resiliency. She spoke on the
importance of her both showing and receiving respect and reminded commissioners to ask questions so
that you can learn from others.

b. Leadership Lesson: Foundations of Leadership
Deputy Clerk Saunders led the Commissioners in a Leadership Lesson from our new workbook, Chapter
1. In this chapter, titled "Foundations of Leadership", we talked about self-leadership, self-awareness
and Commissioners did an activity: Draw a "Me Tree".
c. Roundtable Discussion
Commissioners told the group what is going on in their personal lives, such as summer cabins, family
reunions, volunteering, marching band practice, drivers' tests, spending time with their horse, summer
jobs (some with 2–3 jobs!), starting PSEO classes and arranging college tours.

b. Upcoming Events
Deputy Clerk Saunders reminded the Commissioners of all the fun happening in July that we'd like them
to be in attendance for.
c. Next Youth Commission Meeting Date - August 27, 2025
There being no further business to come before the City Council at the regular council meeting and
upon a motion by Geller and a second by Jacob the meeting was adjourned at 4:44 p.m.
