ISSUE
As a part of the City's involvement with the University of Minnesota's Office of UMore Park
Academic Initiatives, City staff has been working with students of the Center for Urban and Regional
Affairs (CURA) conducting a capstone project for the their Master's Degree program. The capstone
project compares five of the goals from the Bioregional report that UMore Park conducted last year,
to existing ecological or green communities. The students reviewed some existing communities that
were successful and some communities that have not achieved their goals. The City and the
University can use the capstone project as a resource when evaluating possible green infrastructure
with the future development of UMore Park.
The students have completed their project and will be providing a presentation on their conclusions.
The students' presentation was not complete prior to the Council packet being distributed. Staff will
provide copies of the presentation to the City Council if they become available before May 9.
