RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to Adopt a Resolution Receiving Bids and Awarding
the Contract for the Greystone 1st Street & Utility Improvements, City Project 439.
BACKGROUND:
On Friday, June 22, 2012, bids for this project were received and read aloud publicly. After verification of
bids received, the low bid is from Kuechle Underground, Inc. in the amount of $828,568.51.
One of the seven bids submitted to the City was not responsive because it did not correctly acknowledge
the Addendum #1. This bid was from C.W. Houle, Inc. There is no action necessary for this as the
contractor was not the low bidder.
The proposed improvements include the installation of water main, sewer main, storm sewer, streets and
trails to accommodate 23 single- family homes. The total project cost is $1,035,710.64, which includes 25%
for indirect costs. The majority of costs associated with this project will be funded by the developers, The
Ryland Group, Inc. The City will use a combination of sanitary core and storm core funds to cover the
cost of trunk utility over - sizing. Funding for the project is shown in the table below.

Staff recommends that Council adopt the attached resolution receiving the bids and awarding the contract

RESOLUTION 2012 —
A RESOLUTION RECEIVING BIDS AND AWARDING CONTRACT
FOR THE GREYSTONE 1 STREET
AND UTILITY IMPROVEMENTS
CITY PROJECT 439
BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Rosemount, Minnesota, as follows:
1. All bids on construction of the Greystone 1" Street and Utility Improvements are hereby
received and tabulated.
2. The bid of Kuechle Underground, Inc. in the amount of $828,568.51 for the construction of
said improvements are in accordance with the plans and specifications and advertisement for
bids, and is the lowest responsible bid and shall be and hereby is accepted contingent upon
securing all necessary right -of -way.
3. Upon securing all necessary right -of -way, drainage and utility easements, and roadway
easements, the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized and directed to enter into a contract
with said bidder for the construction of said improvements for and on behalf of the City of
Rosemount.
4. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all bidders the
deposits made with their bids, except that the deposit of the successful bidder and the next
two lowest bidders shall be retained until a contract has been executed.

Bids were received for the above - referenced project on Friday, June 22, 2012, and were opened
and read aloud. Seven bids were received. The bids were checked for mathematical accuracy
and tabulated. Please find enclosed the bid tabulation indicating the low bid as submitted by
Kuechle Underground, Inc., Kimball, Minnesota, in the amount of $828,568.51. The Engineer's
Estimate was $900,085.50.
We recommend that the City Council consider these bids and award a contract in the amount of
$828,568.51 to Kuechle Underground, Inc. based on the results of the bids received.
