RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to Adopt a Resolution Receiving Bids and Awarding
the Contract for the Prestwick Place 4th Addition Street and Utility Improvements, City
Project 444.
ISSUE:
Receive bids and award contract for the Prestwick Place 4th Addition Street and Utility Improvements,
City Project 444.
BACKGROUND:
On Friday,August 24, 2012, bids for this project were received and read aloud publicly. After verification
of bids received, the low bidder is Kuechle Underground, Inc. in the amount of$977,099.21. All costs
associated with this project will be funded by the developer,D.R. Horton, Inc.
The Prestwick Place 4th Addition is comprised of 28 single-family homes located north of the Prestwick
Place 2nd addition,adjacent to Akron Avenue. The proposed improvements include the installation of
water main, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer throughout the project area, and the construction of
approximately 1,400 linear feet of new roadway.
It is anticipated that the utility and roadway improvements for the Prestwick Place 4th Addition will be
complete by the end of the 2012 construction season. Sidewalk, bituminous wear course, and restoration
items are scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2013.
SUMMARY:
Staff recommends that Council adopt the attached resolution receiving the bids and awarding the contract
for the Prestwick Place 4th Street and Utility Improvements, City Project 444.

RESOLUTION 2012 —
A RESOLUTION RECEIVING BIDS AND AWARDING CONTRACT
FOR THE PRESTWICK PLACE 4th STREET
AND UTILITY IMPROVEMENTS
CITY PROJECT 444
BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Rosemount,Minnesota, as follows:
1. All bids on construction of the Prestwick Place 4th Street and Utility Improvements are
hereby received and tabulated.
2. The bid of Kuechle Underground in the amount of$977,099.21 for the construction of said
improvements are in accordance with the plans and specifications and advertisement for
bids, and is the lowest responsible bid and shall be and hereby is accepted contingent upon
securing all necessary right-of-way.
3. Upon securing all necessary right-of-way, the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized and
directed to enter into a contract with said bidder for the construction of said improvements
for and on behalf of the City of Rosemount.
4. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all bidders the
deposits made with their bids, except that the deposit of the successful bidder and the next
two lowest bidders shall be retained until a contract has been executed.
