As part of this Environmental Day of Service, volunteers will be raking leaves and picking up debris in city parks, as well as marking selected storm drains to help educate area residents about the harmful effects of dumping waste into the storm drain system. Staff has been working with Girl Scout Coordinator Mary Owens to plan and help facilitate a successful event. As a prelude to this large community event, 60 Girl Scouts came to City Hall in August for a presentation about our water supply system and a tour of Well House 15 and the Bacardi water tower. The girls learned about where their drinking water comes from, how much it costs, and how they can help conserve water inside and outside their homes. SUMMARY: Girl Scout Coordinator Mary Owens will be available to provide a brief summary of the Environmental Day of Service event and answer any questions from Council members.
