Droste, Mayor AGENDA NO. 3,G(, ATTACHMENTS: None APPROVED BY: D41 RECOMMENDED ACTION: Award commendations For the seventh consecutive year, the Rosemount High School Marching Band has won the Minnesota state championship. These musicians and their families have again brought honor and positive attention to their school and community. The RHS Marching Band began work during the summer, and won recognition for its performance at the state fair. Its competition during the season culminated last month by winning the grand championship at the "Youth in Music" competition at the Metrodome,winning both the state title and top honors among competitors from five states. The Irish followed up that winning performance by taking first place its size classification at the Bands of America Super Regional Championships in St. Louis. It placed sixth among bands of all sizes. As a sign of the band's national recognition,Rosemount has been selected to perform at the Tournament of Roses parade in Pasadena, Calif.,in January 2014. The band has provided a video of its state-championship performance,a segment of which will be shown during the City Council meeting.* Scheduled to attend tonight's Council meeting on behalf of the students are Drum Majors: Emily Luckhardt Sam Breyer Devon Lawrence and Mitchell Mussel Band Directors: Bojan Hoover Steve Olsen and Leon Sieve *Please note that the microphones in the Council chambers will remain on during the playback of the recording.
