RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to Approve the Ordinance reducing the
membership of the Planning Commission from Seven (7) to Five (5) Members.
BACKGROUND
As a result of Valerie Ege resigning from Planning Commission in August and Vanessa Demuth's
election to the City Council, the Planning Commission will have five appointed members and two
vacancies. At the November 14 Work Session, the City Council discussed the two vacancies and the
majority of the Council preferred to reduce the Planning Commission membership to five members
rather than filling the two vacancies. An Ordinance has been prepared to reduce the Planning
Commission membership to five members.
DISCUSSION
In April of 2011, the City Council adopted an Ordinance expanding the Planning Commission
membership from five to seven members and appointed Bruno DiNella and Wade Miller to the
Planning Commission. Within the last four months, the Planning Commission has lost two members:
Valerie Ege resigned in August and Vanessa Demuth was elected to the City Council in November.
Adopting the Ordinance to reduce the Planning Commission membership five members will retain
the existing members. Both Commissioners DiNella and Miller's term expire on March 31, 2013.
RECOMMENDATION
Approve the Ordinance reducing the membership of the Planning Commission from seven (7) to
five (5) members.
