ISSUE
The 2013 CIP Budget includes funding to make improvements to the Erickson Park Shelter. Staff will also
be using Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) to assist with funding the project. This project
was one of the City Council goals for 2012 -2013. The goal of the City Council was to improve the
appearance of the facility and to make accessibility improvements where necessary. The main
improvements of the project will be renovating the restrooms, improving the exterior appearance of the
building, and renovating the concession stand.
Attached to the executive summary is a draft plan of what the exterior of the building would look like once
the improvements take place. Staff has also attached a photo of how the building currently looks. Staff
expects that further design regarding the interior of the building will be coming in the next few weeks. Due
to the heavy use of the facility, staff is planning for the improvements to take place this fall.
Staff would like for the City Council to review the concept drawing and provide feedback to staff.
