Director’s Report4ROSEMOUNTEXECUTIVE SUMMARY PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION Parks and Recreation Commission Special Meeting: April 2, 2013 Park Improvement Fund Balance as of February 28, 2013: $505,412.32 Inflows to the Park Improvement Fund last month were as follows: Dedication fees — $17,000 Grants /Other - $0 Interest - $28.58 Donations - $0 Expenditures - $0 Outdoor Ice - Warming house operations closed for the season on Saturday, March 2. We were able to extend the season this year by a couple of weeks. Resource Fair - The Parks and Recreation Department was part of the One Rosemount Feeding Families Resource Fair on Saturday, March 2 at Rosemount Middle School. The resource fair included information on the numerous organizations, clubs, churches, programs, and opportunities in Rosemount. The Parks and Recreation Department highlighted the upcoming Spring Egg Hunt along with all our summer programs available to kids in our community. New Sponsor - The Parks and Recreation Department recently secured a new financial sponsor for the Run for the Gold event held during Leprechaun Days. Scott Chiropractic in Rosemount has agreed to a financial donation to help offset costs associated with the run and walk events. The donation will be used for refreshments for the participants. Scott Chiropractic has joined Brueggers Bagels and Runner's Gate as sponsors of the Run for the Gold. USTA Grant - The Parks and Recreation Department applied for a 2013 tennis grant from USTA Northern for the upcoming Community Tennis Block Party to be held on Saturday, May 11. The block party is hosted by RAAA Traveling and Inhouse Tennis, Rosemount High School Tennis Boosters and the Parks and Recreation Department. The USTA approved our grant request on February 19 and we received a prize pack certificate to purchase prizes online for the event.
