ATTACHMENTS: None APPROVED BY: RECOMMENDED ACTION: Present plaque to Scott Aker SUMMARY The Rosemount City Council is recognizing Fire Chief Scott Aker for his 31 years of service as a firefighter and fire chief. Aker has served as chief for the past 25 years. When he first joined the 20 member department Rosemount had a population of 7,000 and averaged 100 calls per year. Now the 40 member department serves over 23,000 residents and averages 700 calls per year. The City has built two new fire stations during Aker's time with the department. Aker has ensured that the department kept up with equipment and staffing needs. Throughout the years, Chief Aker has run a very effective department with a very modest operating budget compared to most other cities. Besides his administrative duties as Chief, he has responded to an astounding 90% of all calls since his retirement as a teacher, leading the department by his example. We thank Chief Scott Aker for his long and dedicated service to the City and wish him well in his future endeavors. The Chief's final day with Department will be April 30.
