ISSUE
Most recently, the City Council directed staff to work with Stonebridge Communities on a senior
housing project to be located on the Steeple Center site. Stonebridge was one of the development
groups who responded to the RFQ over a year ago. They are also the developer of the Waterford
Commons mixed use project.
At the work session on April 10, 2013, staff presented a concept plan for the senior housing project.
The layout is very similar to that designed by the Doran group. With the Council's acceptance of the
concept, Stonebridge will begin additional work on the site plan, building information and financials.
As the Port Authority owns a portion of the land where the senior housing will be sited, staff will
keep the members apprised of future developments. It is the goal of the City and developer to begin
construction this fall.
