RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve Proclamation
The Rosemount Public Works Department is a team of 24 people dedicated to maintaining a safe, clean,
and enjoyable environment for all residents and businesses. The department mission is to enhance the
quality of life through responsive, efficient, and cost - effective delivery of services consistent with
community values.
The past year has brought significant staffing changes in the department. Three long -time staff members
retired in 2012 after more than 100 combined years of service to the City. In response to changing staff
needs, several new positions were created through a departmental reorganization last August. The Public
Works Supervisor and Public Works Coordinator work together with three Crew Lead members and a
Facility Specialist to schedule, coordinate, and manage the day -to -day projects and activities. Two new
part -time secretaries manage the administrative needs of the department.
In an effort to increase our community outreach and further publicize National Public Works Week,
Public Works staff will be hosting an open house for the 5t' Grade classes from Rosemount Elementary
School on May 23. The students will be able to see some of our equipment up close and learn from our
staff about the different activities included in Public Works. In keeping with this year's national theme,
"Because of Public Works ..." we hope to share with them information about our department and the
work we do on a daily basis. We expect this to be a fun and educational experience for the students.
As we approach National Public Works Week, we would like to commend the following individuals for
their tireless effort, contribution and service to the public:
