Declaration of Surplus Property – Parks & Recreation Dept.ROSEMOUNTEXECUTIVE SUMMARY CITY COUNCIL City Council Regular Meeting: May 7, 2013 AGENDA ITEM: Declaration of Surplus Property — Parks AGENDA SECTION: & Recreation Dept. Consent PREPARED BY: Dan Schultz, Parks & Recreation Director AGENDA NO. ATTACHMENTS: None APPROVED BY: RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to declare the items listed in the executive summary as surplus property and for staff to try to sell the items or appropriately dispose of the them. ISSUE The Parks and Recreation Department is asking that the City Council declare 304 stackable chairs, 10 eight foot long banquet tables and 46 five foot round tables as surplus property as they are no longer used within the City's operations. The majority of the items were purchased in 1994 when the Community Center first opened. By declaring these items surplus property, the City Council authorizes staff to sell, appropriately dispose of, or recycle these items. Once the items have been declared surplus property, staff will try to sell them using the League of MN Cities web site and other online resources. This process of selling used equipment is the same process that was used to sell a kitchen mixer that was no longer used at the Community Center and the pre- school equipment that was no longer needed when the Tiny Tots program was discontinued.
