RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to Adopt a Resolution Receiving Bids and Awarding
the Contract for the 149th Street West Improvements, City Project 446.
BACKGROUND:
On Friday, April 26, 2013, ten bids were received for the 149"' Street West Improvements Project and read
aloud publicly. The low bidder is Ryan Contracting Company who submitted a base bid in the amount of
$806,815.70. The low base bid amount of $806,815.70 is 10.5% lower than the estimated construction
cost of $901,699.50.
This project involves the construction of a frontage road along the north side of 150`'' Street West (CSAH
42) from Business Parkway to Biscayne Avenue. This frontage road will provide access to future
commercial business in the area, and is included as part of the Municipal State Aid system for Rosemount.
SUMMARY:
Staff recommends that Council adopt the attached resolution receiving the bids and awarding the contract
for the 149`h Street West Improvements Project, City Project 446.

RESOLUTION 2013 -
A RESOLUTION RECEIVING BIDS AND AWARDING CONTRACT
FOR THE 1491h STREET WEST IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT
CITY PROJECT 446
BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Rosemount, Minnesota, as follows:
1. All bids on construction of the 149`" Street West Improvements Project are hereby received
and tabulated.
2. Based on the Base Bid, the bid of Ryan Contracting Company in the amount of $806,815.70
for the construction of said improvements is in accordance with the plans and specifications
and advertisement for bids, and is the lowest responsible bid and shall be and hereby is
accepted.
3. The Mayor and Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with said
bidder for the construction of said improvements for and on behalf of the City of Rosemount.
4. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all bidders the deposits
made with their bids, except that the deposit of all successful bidder and the next two lowest
bidders shall be retained until a contract has been executed.
ADOPTED this 7"' day of May, 2013.

Bids were received for the above - referenced project on Friday, April 26, 2013, and were opened and
read aloud. 10 bids were received. The bids were checked for mathematical accuracy and tabulated.
Please find enclosed the bid tabulation indicating the low bid as submitted by Ryan Contracting Co.
of Elko, MN, in the amount of $806,815.70. The Engineer's Estimate was $901,699.50.
We recommend that the City Council consider these bids and award a contract in the amount of
$806,815.70 to Ryan Contracting Co. based on the results of the bids received.
