Friday Night Live - On Friday, April 26 the Parks and Recreation Department co- partnered with
Lighthouse and Community of Hope Churches for the annual spring Friday Night Live event held at the
Community Center gym. This event for middle school age youth celebrated the theme "Jump Into
Spring" and featured a 60' inflatable obstacle course to challenge the students. Approximately 185 kids
participated in this spring event. Non - perishable food donations were an option for the admission fee and
all donations went to the Rosemount Family Resource Center.
GPS family Race - On Saturday, May 4, the Rosemount Parks and Recreation Department co-
sponsored the annual SORR GPS Amazing Family Race. Thirty -eight teams (about 168 people)
participated in this year's event which was headquartered in Lakeville. Teams had nine different
checkpoints to locate within three cities. Once a team found the location of the checkpoint, they had to
perform a task such as screen printing a t -shirt or building a sand castle. The teams that completed all
tasks and were back at headquarters within the 2 -' /z hour time limit were considered the winners.
Garden Plots - The weather finally cooperated and allowed the soil at the garden plots to dry out
enough so that we could roto -till the plots again and get them ready for planting. All of the gardeners
have been notified that they can begin working in their gardens. This year we offered 49 garden plots
divided among five locations.
