BACKGROUND
Dakota County is continuing with the development of a project to construct a regional trail along Trunk
Highway 52 and Pine Bend Trail from 117`h Street to Spring Lake Park. The City Council previously
approved a joint powers agreement with Dakota County to facilitate the construction of the trail adjacent
to and near Pine Bend Trail, a city maintained road. At this time final plans are complete consistent with
the joint powers agreement.
As Dakota County continues forward with the project there are easement matters that remain to be
resolved with Union Pacific Railroad at and near the two at -grade railroad crossings on Pine Bend Trail.
From discussions with Dakota County representatives, a resolution to this matter may require
modifications to the plans for the trail crossing of the at -grade railroad crossings. Should these changes be
necessary, Staff is anticipating that the changes may need to be presented to Council at a future time for
approval.
SUMMARY
A representative from Dakota County will be in attendance at the meeting to provide a project update for
Council.
