ISSUE:
Receive bids and award contract for the Greystone 2nd Addition Street and Utility Improvements, City
Project 449.
BACKGROUND:
On Friday, June 7, 2013, bids for this project were received and read aloud publicly. After verification of
bids received, the low bidder is Friedges Contracting, Inc. in the amount of $519,194.20. All costs
associated with this project will be funded by the developer, The Ryland Group, Inc. through a
combination of cash payment for overhead and special assessments for the construction costs and trunk
fees.
The Greystone 2nd Addition is comprised of 31 single-family homes located east of Akron Avenue between
150th Street West and Bonaire Path. The proposed improvements include the installation of water main,
sanitary sewer, and storm sewer throughout the project area, and the construction of approximately 1,230
linear feet of new roadway.
It is anticipated that the utility and roadway improvements for the Greystone 2nd Addition will be complete
by fall 2013.
SUMMARY:
Staff recommends that Council adopt the attached resolution receiving the bids and awarding the contract
for the Greystone 2nd Street and Utility Improvements, City Project 449.

RESOLUTION 2013 -
A RESOLUTION RECEIVING BIDS AND AWARDING CONTRACT
FOR THE GREYSTONE 2ND STREET
AND UTILITY IMPROVEMENTS
CITY PROJECT 449
BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Rosemount, Minnesota, as follows:
1. All bids on construction of the Greystone 2nd Addition Street and Utility Improvements are hereby
received and tabulated.
2. The bid of Friedges Contracting, Inc. in the amount of $519,194.20 for the construction of said
improvements are in accordance with the plans and specifications and advertisement for bids, and
is the lowest responsible bid and shall be and hereby is accepted contingent upon securing all
necessary right -of -way.
3. Upon securing all necessary right -of -way, the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized and directed to
enter into a contract with said bidder for the construction of said improvements for and on behalf
of the City of Rosemount.
4. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all bidders the deposits
made with their bids, except that the deposit of the successful bidder and the next two lowest
bidders shall be retained until a contract has been executed.

Bids were received for the above - referenced project on Friday, June 7, 2013, and were opened and
read aloud. Five bids were received. The bids were checked for mathematical accuracy and
tabulated. Please find enclosed the bid tabulation indicating the low bid as submitted by Friedges
Contracting Co., LLC of Lakeville, MN, in the amount of $519,194.20. The Engineer's Estimate
was $524,201.00.
We recommend that the City Council consider these bids and award a contract in the amount of
$519,194.20 to Friedges Contracting Co., LLC based on the results of the bids received.
