PORT AUTHORITY
Port Authority Date: June 18, 2013
AGENDA ITEM: Virtual Business Incubator /Business

AGENDA SECTION:
Old Business
PREPARED BY: Kim Lindquist, Deputy Director
AGENDA NO. 5.a.
ATTACHMENTS: Draft Resource Pages, Web Snapshot
APPROVED BY:
RECOMMENDATION: No Action Required
ISSUE
The Port Authority has been investigating the idea of a local business incubator. At this time it
appears that a bricks and mortar incubator would be cost prohibitive and it is questionable what the
demand would be. However, the Incubator Task Force did determine that a virtual incubator,
housed on the City's website would be a good start in helping start ups and fledgling businesses.
Attached is the Business Resource portion of the virtual incubator which will be the most
substantive portion of the program. This was put together by our summer intern Clarissa Hadler,
who has been working at the City for approximately two weeks. As you can see, she is awaiting
additional information but you can follow the general layout of the section. The City's
Communications Officer, Alan Cox has also provided two screen shots of the product, illustrating
how it would look on the City's website.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff is looking for comments on the draft information.
Design Notes
(Red denotes information needed.)
Hopefully, the data in the contact info boxes would be on the same line and be the same
sized font (except Org. Name). If we have to go a little smaller to make it fit on the same
line, that might be okay. If the font gets too small, maybe just leave off that piece of info,
depending on the organization.
Hyperlink each organization logo to the website listed unless noted below the listing.
