Port Authority Date: June 18, 2013
AGENDA ITEM: Downtown Businesses Listing
AGENDA SECTION:
Old Business
PREPARED BY: Kim Lindquist, Deputy Director
AGENDA NO. 5.b.
ATTACHMENTS: Business Listing, Business Visit
Questionnaire (2)
APPROVED BY:
RECOMMENDATION: Discussion Item.
ISSUE
One of the Port Authority goals is the meet with Downtown Businesses and determine long -and
short-term plans. Specifically the goal states:
Create a Redevelopment Status List of existing properties and engage business owners
within the Downtown Redevelopment areas for upgrades, renovations and revitalization
plans. Report to the Port Authority annually.
The work plan presented at the last Port meeting had Port Authority members reporting back in
October regarding their findings. The information in this package is the background needed to
achieve that task The business listing is attached which lists the various properties. Staff needs to
add the property owners and contact information, if available. Since the goal is to understand the
owners' intentions relating to the properties, the individual businesses located at the premises are
not listed.
Secondly there are two surveys presented for the interview. Staff has provided them for reference
only as they are from Greater N1SP and also one devised by the City several years ago. Staff would
like feedback on the questionnaires, to determine if there are specific questions the group would like
asked. Targeting the property owner means that the business functions at the site mayor may not be
relevant. A brief discussion should be had on this topic so the questionnaire and final listing can be
made available for members at your July meeting. This would allow members several months to set
up meetings with individual property owners.
RECOMMENDATION
Provide Staff direction.
