RECOMMENDED ACTION: Staff is recommending that the City Council receive the bids
and award the contract for the Steeple Center Sound and Lighting Improvements to the low
bidder, Parsons Electric Corporation in the amount of $99,462.
ISSUE
The City recently received bids for the sound and lighting improvements at the Steeple Center. There were
six contractors on the plan holders list and we received four bids for the project. The bid tabulation is
listed below:

BACKGROUND
The design work for the sound and lighting improvements at the Steeple Center was recently completed
and the project was publicly bid. Staff met with members of the Rosemount Area Arts Council (RAAC)
and City on a Hill Church to share information about the proposed improvements with them. The
meetings went well and they were supportive of what is being proposed. The CIP budget for 2013 includes
$100,000 for the sound and lights. RAAC also has $5,000 in grant money that they will be putting towards
lighting improvements at the Steeple Center. The cost estimate for the improvements was $103,000. The
approximate breakdown of the improvements is $60,000 for the sound system and $43,000 for lighting
improvements.
SUMMARY
Staff is recommending that the City Council receive the bids and award the contract for the Steeple Center
Sound and Lighting Improvements to the low bidder, Parsons Electric Corporation, in the amount of
$99,462.
