Melissa Kenninger Rosemount resident since 1999 • Lifelong resident of Dakota County, MN Why ! want to Serve on the Redevelopment Committee I am very interested in serving on this committee and assisting with the redevelopment of a key area in our Rosemount community. I love living in Rosemount and believe there is a lot of potential with our community by further developing the downtown area and other commercial space. Rosemount is a growing community that can be very beneficial for businesses and provide great opportunities to business owners, all while providing the community with more services & conveniences right in Rosemount. I look forward to the opportunity to work with City Council & Planning Commission members, City Staff, and other business & resident representatives on this committee. My Relative Work & Volunteer Experience My work experience has prepared me well for an opportunity like this. I am the Director of Business Operations for Benchmark Learning, based in Edina, MN. I am responsible for ensuring our business processes, policies & systems operate effectively so we can be a profitable business. In the past couple years I have been involved in facility /leasing decisions & negotiations as our lease was expiring. I understand many of the things that businesses evaluate when looking at where they should locate their business. Also, given that I am responsible for our fiscal performance at work I am very familiar with the importance of looking at the large picture when making decisions and that there are various factors that need to be considered including short and long term impacts, and what decisions will lead to achieving the overall goals. Over the years I have been very active in volunteer and philanthropic activities. I have held multiple leadership positions for my kid's activities and church including; • Co- leader for Children's Choir at Rosemount UMC • Vacation Bible School registration coordinator for multiple years • Rosemount Youth Wrestling Director • Field Event Results Coordinator for RAAA Track & Field In addition I've served in philanthropic & volunteer leadership roles with an Alumnae Association for included Alumnae Twin Cities Chapter President and Regional VP of Alumnae for the National Organization. Thank you for considering me to be a representative of the Rosemount residents on this committee. If you have additional questions regarding my experience and interest please feel free to call or email me.
