RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to Adopt a Resolution Requesting the Commissioner
of Transportation for the Minnesota Department of Transportation Prepare a Speed Study
ISSUE:
Staff is requesting the preparation of a MnDOT speed study for Connemara Trail from Auburn Avenue to
Akron Avenue.
BACKGROUND:
Speed limits for local streets, county highways, and state highways are regulated by the Minnesota
Department of Transportation (MnDOT). The newest segment of Connemara Trail that was completed
in 2012 has not been evaluated by MnDOT yet to establish a speed limit. Therefore, it is prudent to
request a speed study at this time.
SUMMARY:
Staff recommends Council adoption of the attached resolution requesting the preparation of a MnDOT
speed study on Connemara Trail, from Auburn Avenue to Akron Avenue.

RESOLUTION 2013 —
A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE COMMISSIONER OF TRANSPORTATION
FOR THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION PREPARE
A SPEED STUDY
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Rosemount deems it necessary to have an investigation of the
speed performed on Connemara Trail, from Auburn Avenue to Akron Avenue, and
WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Transportation for the Minnesota Department of Transportation can
authorize such a study for the City of Rosemount.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Rosemount requests the
Minnesota Department of Transportation perform an investigation into the speed limit on Connemara Trail,
from Auburn Avenue to Akron Avenue within the City of Rosemount.
ADOPTED this 5s' day of August, 2013.
