ISSUE
Staff has been working with the architects on the plans for the public activity center and floor layout.
Attached are the most recent plans which illustrate some modifications from that previously reviewed. The
main topics staff has had relate to provision of enough storage spaces, the circulation around the cafe area,
the building elevations in the cafe area, and the sizing of the hallways versus the individual rooms. At this
time staff is reasonably comfortable with the allocation of the public spaces. We are hoping to receive a
very broad cost estimate in the near future to see if the project is on track. The architect has indicated that
the following square footage for the new space and revamped "gathering space ": The difference between
the square footage for the first and second floor is because the cafe area is two stories, reducing the usable
space on the second floor.

First Floor 5,557 gross s.f.
Second Floor 4,136 gross s.f.

This meeting is another opportunity to check in with the Council on the latest activity center drawings. If
the Council has questions about the layout, this would be the critical time to discuss them as we are trying
to finalize the building plans.
