ATTACHMENTS: None APPROVED BY: RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to approve receiving the following in -kind donations: Transportation of 90 Tons of Oil by Kane Transport Inc., Mixing of Asphalt by Commercial Asphalt (Barton Sand and Gravel), Tack Coat and Placement of Asphalt by Pine Bend Paving. ISSUE When the City Council approved the construction contract for phase 1 of the Flint Hills Athletic Complex project we did not have the parking lot and trail construction included in phase 1. Since beginning the work on phase 1 of the project, staff has been able to coordinate several donations that will allow the City to construct the parking lot and trails at a minimal cost in the near future. The first donation that was offered to the City was from Flint Hills Resources in the form of the 90 tons of oil (binder) needed to create the asphalt for the parking lot. Staff from Flint Hills have helped secure a donation to have the oil hauled to the asphalt plant for mixing. The in -kind donation of hauling the 90 tons of oil will be provided by Kane Transport Incorporated. The oil will be transported to the Commercial Asphalt Plant in Empire where the asphalt will be mixed and prepared for placement. The asphalt will then be installed at the park by Pine Bend Paving. BACKGROUND The donation that was previously provided by Dakota Aggregates allowed for the parking lot to be prepped for construction, which included bringing in the base materials and installing all the curb and gutter. SUMMARY Staff is recommending the City Council approve receiving the following in -kind donations: Transportation of 90 Tons of Oil by Kane Transport Inc., Mixing of Asphalt by Commercial Asphalt (Barton Sand and Gravel), Tack Coat and Placement of Asphalt by Pine Bend Paving.
