Fire Department
The Fire Department has recently replaced approximately 1,200 feet of 4 -inch hose with new 5 -inch hose.
The old hose had 12 100 -foot sections that were between 5 and 25 years old. The new larger hose will
provide more reliable and efficient service with higher volume of water flow. Because of this, the old 4-
inch hose is no longer needed in the department. Its estimated salvage value is approximately $2,500.
SUMMARY:
Once the items have been declared surplus property, staff will attempt to sell them using the League of
MN Cities website and /or other online resources, or to another interested party. This process of selling
surplus equipment is the same process that has been used previously to dispose of surplus equipment.
Staff recommends Council authorization to declare these items as surplus property and authorize staff to
sell or dispose of them.
