ISSUE
The Parks and Recreation Department continues to move forward with plans to build a splash pad at
Central Park in the spring. Included in the packet is a concept plan that staff has been working on with
regards to the theme of the splash pad. Many of the items included in the concept plan were suggested by
City Council members at previous meetings regarding the splash pad project.
At the meeting on Monday, staff will provide an overview of the concept plan and provide an update on
the planning process for water reuse/ conservation for the project.
BACKGROUND
The City recently sent out a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to splash pad equipment vendors. The RFQ
submittals were reviewed by staff and also by the Parks and Recreation Commission. The Commission
recommended working with Commercial Recreation Specialists/Vortex and that we look closer at a re-
circulating water system or the reuse of the water. The City Council also reviewed the RFQ information
and directed staff to work with Commercial Recreation Specialists/Vortex.
