VP. ATTACHMENTS: None APPROVED BY: ON RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to Approve the Reappointment of Bruce Sword as Fire Secretary for a Period of Three Years. ISSUE This is a recommendation to appoint Bruce Sword to the position of Fire Secretary for three years. The current term is expiring, and according to Fire Department policy, the Secretary is to be selected from applicants meeting the minimum qualifications for the position. In this application process, two candidates interviewed for the position. Both candidates interviewed extremely well, and we are pleased with the talent available in the Fire Department for current and future leadership positions. Bruce has been Fire Secretary for the past five years and a member of the department since 2003. He is well qualified for the position and it is thereby recommended that his assignment to the position of Fire Secretary be confirmed by the Council. SUMMARY Staff recommends that Council approve the Reappointment of Bruce Sword as Fire Secretary for a period of three years.
