RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to Adopt a Resolution Receiving Plans and
Specifications and Authorizing the Advertisement for Bids for the City Hall Roof
Replacement
BACKGROUND:
On August 6, 2013 the City Hall roof sustained significant hail damage during a severe storm that passed
through the south metro area. Since the estimated cost to replace the roof will exceed$100,000, the City is
required to advertise and solicit sealed bids for the project. The city has attained the professional services
of CNH Architects to prepare plans and specifications for the project and to perform the construction
administration. The plans and specifications are now complete and are on file in the Engineering
Department.
The bid opening is scheduled for Tuesday,July 29,2014 with a pre-bid conference scheduled for Monday,
July 21,2014 to address any questions from potential bidders. Quinn Hutson from CNH Architects is
managing this project and will be available for both events. Construction is expected to begin in early
August.
SUMMARY:
Staff recommends Council receive the plans and specifications and authorize the advertising for bids for
the City Hall Roof Replacement.

RESOLUTION 2014 -
A RESOLUTION RECEIVING THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS
AND AUTHORIZING THE ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS FOR
THE CITY HALL ROOF REPLACEMENT
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Rosemount has ordered the preparation of plans and
specifications for the City Hall roof replacement, and such plans and specifications have been presented to
this Council for approval:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED,by the City Council of the City of Rosemount, Minnesota:
1. Such plans and specifications are hereby approved and ordered placed on file in the office of the
City Clerk.
2. The City Clerk will prepare and cause to be inserted in the official City newspaper and the building
exchanges, an advertisement for bids upon the making of such improvements under such approved
plans and specifications for the City Hall roof replacement.
3. The advertisement will be published in each of said publications at least once not less than three (3)
weeks before the date set for opening bids, specifying the work to be done, stating the bids will be
publicly opened on July 29, 2014 at 2:00 o'clock p.m. at the Rosemount City Hall in said City, and
that no bids will be considered unless sealed and filed with the City Clerk and accompanied by a
cash deposit, cashier's check, bid bond or certified check payable to the City Clerk for five (5%)
percent of the amount of such bid.
4. Such advertisement for bids is hereby authorized by the Council.
