RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to Approve Night Work by McNamara Contracting, Inc.
for the Dakota County Mill and Overlay Project of County Road 42 During the Period of July
21 through August 1, 2014
ISSUE
Council consideration of request to allow night work by McNamara Contracting, Inc. for the Dakota
County mill and overlay project of County Road 42 during the period of July 21 through August 1, 2014.
BACKGROUND:
Dakota County is currently in the process of a mill and overlay project on segments of County Road 42 in
Rosemount. City staff received a request from Dakota County to allow night work by the contractor,
McNamara Contracting, Inc. for the section of County Road 42 from just west of TH 52 to the Rich
Valley Golf Course. A copy of the letter from McNamara Contracting is attached. The request pertains to
the section of roadway that starts at the westerly construction limits through the intersection of Conley
Avenue and ending near the Rich Valley Golf Course. Doing work at night in this area would be helpful
in avoiding some of the Highway 52 ramp traffic. The night work is scheduled to be completed sometime
between July 21 and August 1,2014.
SUMMARY:
Staff requests Council approval for McNamara Contracting, Inc. to conduct night work on the County
Road 42 mill and overlay project which will take place between July 21 and August 1,2014.

This correspondence shall serve as our formal request to construct part of the mill and overlay
portion of this project as night work.
This request pertains to the section of roadway that starts at the westerly construction limits
(just west of Hwy 52) through the intersection of Conley Ave and ending near the Rich Valley
Golf Course. Doing this work at night would be helpful in avoiding some of the Hwy 52 ramp
traffic.
This work is currently scheduled to take place at the end of the week of July 21st or at the
beginning of the week of July 28tH
