She will be present for the ceremonial oath of office on Tuesday,July 15, 2014. Officer Ruesink grew up in Bloomington,Minnesota and graduated from Bloomington Jefferson High School. Officer Ruesink received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Health and Human Performance from the University of Saint Thomas. She received a Law Enforcement Certificate from Alexandria Technical College. Officer Ruesink also received a Paramedic Certificate from Century College and recently finished a Certificate from Hamline University in Police, Fire, and EMS Administration. Prior to being hired as a Police Officer, Ms. Ruesink worked for nearly nine years as a Paramedic for Health East Ambulance Service. During her last three years with Health East, she served as an Ambulance Field Supervisor. In addition,Katie worked as one of the Tactical Paramedics for DCMAAG,which is Dakota County's SWAT team. As a result of her hard work and dedication to this team, she recently received the Outstanding EMS Provider Award from the Dakota County EMS Council. Specifically, Officer Ruesink provided the tactical team with extensive training in the area of combat first aid,improved wellness,and suicide bombers and terror attacks. Finally, she played a pivotal role in the purchase and distribution of Individual Patrol Officer's Kits that will be placed in every marked police cruiser in Dakota County. Officer Ruesink competed against approximately 159 applicants in the hiring process for Police Officer. She began her field training on July 7 and,upon completion of the field training program, Officer Ruesink will begin working as a Patrol Officer. The prescribed oath of office is attached. STATE OF MINNESOTA ) COUNTY OF DAKOTA ) § CITY OF ROSEMOUNT ) I, Kathleen Ruesink, solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States and of the State of Minnesota, and faithfully discharge the duties as Police Officer for the City of Rosemount in the County of Dakota and the State of Minnesota, to the best of my judgment and ability.
