RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion for the City Council to authorize the advertisement for
bid for the Steeple Center Addition (Activity Center).
ISSUE
City's design consultants have finished the plans and specifications for the activity center addition to the
Steeple Center. The addition will provide a variety of new spaces for senior programs, arts and cultural
activities and other community groups. The main amenities to be built with the fast floor of the project
include a cyber cafe, large meeting/classroom,kitchen,new restrooms, office, conference room, storage
space and elevator. The base bid will also include enclosing the second floor but not finishing it. Part of
the bid package will include a bid alternate for finishing the second floor. The finished second floor would
include two meeting/classrooms, restrooms and storage. Included with the packet are the building
elevations and floor plans.
SUMMARY
Staff is recommending the City Council authorize the advertisement for bid for the Steeple Center
Addition (Activity Center).
Once the project is publicly bid, staff will bring back the bid results for the City Council to consider
accepting and awarding a contract at a City Council meeting in September.
