RECOMMENDED ACTION: Mayor Droste will administer the oath of office to Mitchell
Scott
BACKGROUND
Mitchell Scott was approved as our next Police Chief at the July 15`h Council meeting. Mayor Droste will
administer the oath of office to Mr. Scott who will begin his new duties August 201h
Mitchell Scott has most recently been a Captain with the Apple Valley Police Department. He worked for
Apple Valley for about 18 years starting as a patrol officer and working his way up the ranks to Sergeant
and Captain. He has a total of 28 years in law enforcement and security work. He served in the U.S. Air
Force for six years including a tour of duty in the 1990-91 Gulf War and received several commendations
and medals for his service.
He has a Master of Arts degree in organizational management from Concordia University in St. Paul and a
degree in Business Management from Kaplan University in Des Moines. He has also received certificates
from leading professional programs conducted by the FBI and Northwestern University.
The City had several good choices among the candidates for Police Chief and we are very pleased that
Mitchell Scott was available and accepted our offer to be the next Police Chief.

I, Mitchell Scott, solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United
States and of the State of Minnesota, and faithfully discharge the duties as Police
Chief for the City of Rosemount in the County of Dakota and the State of
Minnesota, to the best of my judgment and ability. So help me God.
