RECOMMENDED ACTION: Award commendations
For the ninth consecutive year,the Rosemount High School Marching Band has won the Minnesota state
championship. Once again,these students and their supporters have brought attention and honors to
their school and their community.
Coming off their performance on New Year's Day in the Tournament of Roses Parade,band members
began their work in the summer. Their high marks in the fall's round of tournaments and hosting of the
25`h festival at home all built to the state Youth in Music championships held last month in Farmington.
Along with first place Class AAA,the band earned recognition for outstanding winds, outstanding color
guard, and best drum major.
The students moved on quickly to one of the nation's largest regional competitions,the Bands of America
"super-regionals" in St. Louis,Mo. Rosemount came in fifth in the competition,the best showing by
Mim�esota competitors and the school's strongest result at the super-regionals in manyyears.
The band has provided a video of its state championship perfornzance.
