RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to declare the items listed in the executive summary
as surplus property and for staff to appropriately dispose of the items.
ISSUE
The Finance Department is asking that the City Council declare the Police squad evidence equipment
listed below as surplus property. This declaration will authorize staff to appropriately dispose of these
items.
BACKGROUND
The purchase of a new Police squad evidence system was approved by executive summary on June 17,
2014. Our IT Coordinator has supervised the installation of the new equipment, and it is nearly complete.
We are retaining the old system's server to allow retrieval of prior case evidence. However, because the
old cameras are no longer usable within our new system, our IT Coordinator has found three Police
Departments in the metro area that will take the cameras from our old system to use as needed for
replacements within their current systems. We would like to have the cameras declared surplus to allow
for the donations as listed below.
