Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting: November 24, 2014
Park Improvement Fund Balance as of September 30, 2013: $260,253.99
Inflows to the Park Improvement Fund last month were as follows:
Dedication fees — $0
Grants/Other - $0
Interest - $4.21
Donations - $0
Expenditures - $ 1,730 (UMore Ball Fields, Erickson Park Tennis Courts and Prestwick Park
Design)
Friday Night Live - On Friday, October 24, the Parks and Recreation Department hosted Friday Night
Live - Halloween Costume Party for middle school students. Approximately 160 students attended, with
99% participating in the costume contest. Prizes of gift cards and candy were awarded to the first through
third place winners in each grade. Entertainment included a DJ, games and a professional photographer
printing unlimited photo booth strip -type photos. This program is co-sponsored by Lighthouse Church
and financially sponsored by The First State Bank of Rosemount. The next Friday Night Live is scheduled
for April 2015.
LEGO Fun - On Saturday, November 8, the Parks and Recreation
Department co -hosted the annual Mom and Son Morning of Fun Lego
event. This special event was hosted by the SORR communities of Apple
Valley, Eagan, Farmington, Lakeville, Rosemount and Savage. Each year
these cities team up to offer a series of family-oriented dances and special
events to celebrate and strengthen the special bond between family
members. Approximately 185 people participated in music and dancing,
games, group building projects and crafts. The DJ had everyone up and
dancing to old and new favorites and each couple received a special keepsake
photo taken by a professional photographer. Our next event will be held in
February 2015 and will be a Paris themed Daddy/Daughter Dance.
