ISSUE The Rosemount Veterans' Memorial Walk oxganization has provided staff with their plans for the first phase of the Yest and reflection areas along the trail.The fixst locations will include a statue,benches,brick paveYs and signage. The site plan and concept plan ase included in the packet for your review. Staff supports the plans submitted the Veteran's Memorial Walk gYoup. WE BELIEVE THAT OUR EFFORTS WILL HELP OUR BELOVED COUNTRY F(GHT THE WAR ON TERROR� AND THAT ALL PATRIOTIC AMERICAN ClTIZENS SHOULD CONTRIBUTE FINANCIALLY, WE DO NOT INTEND TO USE PUBLIC FUNDS IN DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION. THE CITY OF ROSEMOUNT HAS APPROVED OUR USE OF A 1600 FT. SEGMENT OF THE KOCH M►NNESOTA TRAIL TO BUILD EIGHT(8)RESTAND REFI.�ECTION AREqS�CELEBRATING OUR AMERICAN CONSTITUTIONAL FREEDOMS� WHICH OUR MILITARY VETERANS HAVE WON AND PRESERVED FOR US. WE NAVE ESTABLISHED THE LOCATION OF THE FIRST REST AND REFLECTION AREA AND NAMED !T °CLIBERTYl' WE INTEND TO CELEBRATE THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF OUR ARMY� NAVY� MARINES� AIR FORCE AND COAST GUARD IN LIBERTY. SUBSEQUENT REST AND REFLECTION AREAS WILL CELEBRATE "FREEDOM OF SPEECH�" ��FREEDOM OF THE PRESS�" "FREEDOM OF RELIGION�" ETC. WE HAVE NOT YET ATTEMPTED THE ARTISTIC DESIGN OF THESE AREAS. A TOUR OF OUR MEMORIAL WILL REWARD THE TOURIST WITH A POSITIVE EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE. DEVELOPMENTS IN THE WAR ON TERROR HAVE MOTIVA7ED US TO CONCENTRATE ON A PRELIMINARY EFFORT AT THIS TIME. We chose"the brothers"to illustrate this, and to suggest the lasting gratitude Islamic Jihadists are proliferating at this time. which American citizens owe our veterans. We do not understand their hatred of us but have no alternative but to defend ourselves.All patriotic Atnericans must be engaged. Rosemount is the home of the 34th U.S. Army Infantry,which includes the Minnesota National Guard. The military history of the 34th (the"Red Bulls") is distinguished, and dates back to W W I.
