RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to recommend approval the Veterans' Memorial Walk
Phase 1 Rest and Reflection area plan.
ISSUE
The Rosemount Veterans' Memorial Walk oxganization has provided staff with their plans for the first
phase of the Yest and reflection areas along the trail.The fixst locations will include a statue,benches,brick
paveYs and signage. The site plan and concept plan ase included in the packet for your review.
Staff supports the plans submitted the Veteran's Memorial Walk gYoup. Staff Yecommends the Parks and
Recreation Commission consider supporting the plans and having the group move forward with theix
fundraising effoxts.

WE ORGANIZED AS A MINNESOTA NON-PROFIT CORPORATION IN 2007 AND SINCE HAVE
WORKED TO BUILD A MEANINGFUL M[LITARY VETERANS MEMORIAL ON THE KOCH MINNESOTA
TRAIL� WHICH BEGINS IN CENTRAL PARK IN ROSEMOUNT. WE BELIEVE THAT OUR EFFORTS WILL
HELP OUR BELOVED COUNTRY F(GHT THE WAR ON TERROR� AND THAT ALL PATRIOTIC AMERICAN
ClTIZENS SHOULD CONTRIBUTE FINANCIALLY, WE DO NOT INTEND TO USE PUBLIC FUNDS IN
DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION.
THE CITY OF ROSEMOUNT HAS APPROVED OUR USE OF A 1600 FT. SEGMENT OF THE KOCH
M►NNESOTA TRAIL TO BUILD EIGHT(8)RESTAND REFI.�ECTION AREqS�CELEBRATING OUR AMERICAN
CONSTITUTIONAL FREEDOMS� WHICH OUR MILITARY VETERANS HAVE WON AND PRESERVED FOR
US. WE NAVE ESTABLISHED THE LOCATION OF THE FIRST REST AND REFLECTION AREA AND NAMED
!T °CLIBERTYl' WE INTEND TO CELEBRATE THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF OUR ARMY� NAVY� MARINES�
AIR FORCE AND COAST GUARD IN LIBERTY. SUBSEQUENT REST AND REFLECTION AREAS WILL
CELEBRATE "FREEDOM OF SPEECH�" ��FREEDOM OF THE PRESS�" "FREEDOM OF RELIGION�" ETC.
WE HAVE NOT YET ATTEMPTED THE ARTISTIC DESIGN OF THESE AREAS. A TOUR OF OUR MEMORIAL
WILL REWARD THE TOURIST WITH A POSITIVE EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE.
DEVELOPMENTS IN THE WAR ON TERROR HAVE MOTIVA7ED US TO CONCENTRATE ON A
PRELIMINARY EFFORT AT THIS TIME. THAT IS THE "RED BULL MEMORIAL�" DESCRIBED ON THE
REVERSE SIDE HEREOF.
WHILE WE HAVE A M1fUMBER OF FUND RAISING IDEAS� WE KNOW THAT WE WILL lVOT SUCCEED
WITHOUT MAJOR FINANCIAL SUPPORT FROM INDIVIDUAL PATRIOTIC AMERICANS� INCLUDING YOU!

THE BROTHERS LEST WE FORGET
Here you see an American soldier dressed On September 11, 2001 (9/11) our beloved country
in the uniform worn by our troops when our was attacked by Islamic Jihadists. They hijacked
. country declared its Independence four commercial jetliners in flight
from England on July 4, 1776. and crashed two of them
His hand is on the shoulder of a man in the into the World Trade Center in New York City

the current garb of Rosemount's 34th Army D.C. By heroic action of some passengers,the
Infantry"Red Bull"soldiers. fourth plane crashed
into a Pennsylvania farm field.
All veterans of America's military establishment, All aboard perished. The above described
Army,Navy>Marines,Air Force and attack,killed 2,996 Americans.
Coast Guard,feel a sense of camaraderie
with fellow veterans. The War on Terror began in this way.
We chose"the brothers"to illustrate this,
and to suggest the lasting gratitude Islamic Jihadists are proliferating at this time.
which American citizens owe our veterans. We do not understand their hatred of us but have
no alternative but to defend ourselves.All patriotic
Atnericans must be engaged.
Rosemount is the home of the 34th U.S. Army
Infantry,which includes the Minnesota National
Guard. The military history of the 34th
(the"Red Bulls") is distinguished,
and dates back to W W I.
The Red Bull soldiers memorialized here
are all Minnesota residents.
They died for us since
September 1 l,2001 fighting
in our War on Terror in Iraq and Afghanistan.
