SPECIAL WORK SESSION PROCEEDINGS
AUGUST 15 , 2014
CALL TO ORDER
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a special work session of the Rosemount City Council was
held on Friday , August 15 , 2014 beginning at 7:30 a .m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 2875
145 th Street West, Rosemount.
Mayor Droste called the meeting to order wi th Council Members DeBettignies and Demuth
attending. Staff present incl uded City Administrator Johnson , City Attorney Mary Tietjen and City
Clerk Hadler .
NEW BUSINESS
2.A . Canvassing Board Oath of Office
City Attorney Tietjen advised this oath was not necessary, as Council members are already sworn in.
2.B . Canvass and Certification of results from August 12, 2014 Primary Election
City Clerk Hadler gave a brief summary of the primary election and results . The tie vote between
Candidates Nowlin and Abdulahi require that the winner be determined by lot. The other candidate
would then have five calendar days to request a recount. Staff recommended a coin flip. Upon
Council’s acceptance of this recommenda tion, Mayor Droste performed a coin flip, of which the
winner was Candidate Nowlin.
Motion by Demuth . Second by DeBettignies.
Motion to declare the results of the August 12, 2014 Primary Election Returns by adoption
of Resolution Certifying Names of Nominees for the November 4, 2014 General Election
for Two City Council Member Offices.
Ayes: 3
Nays: 0. Motion carried.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the City Council and upon a motion by Droste,
second by DeBettignies , the meeting was unanimously adjourned at 7 :37 p.m.
