This started a year- long assessment of seven differing Goal Areas to ascertain the level of Rosemount’s sustainability. The Goal Areas encompassed a wide range of community activities, both public and private, and crossed jurisdictional boundaries. Issues such as Climate and Energy, Economy and Jobs, and Equity and Empowerments were all analyzed. The City was aided in the assessment by our many partners including Dakota County and the Dakota County CDA, the Rosemount Area Arts Council, the State Department of Employment and Economic Development and the local Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan Public School District and the Community Action Partnership. Additionally, all city departments within the City worked on their areas of influence, answering questions and setting up benchmarking measures. After the final compilation of the assessment the information was submitted to the STAR Communities organization for review and grading. Based upon the assessment submitted, the City of Rosemount received a 3-STAR rating, which is the highest rating achieved for a community of our size. Nearly 100 communities are using the STAR Community Rating System with 60 engaged in the certification process. Rosemount is the first community in Minnesota to receive STAR Certification.
