HomeMy WebLinkAbout20121219 YCRM MinutesROSEMOUNT YOUTH COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING PROCEEDINGS DECEMBER 19, 2012 CALL TO ORDER Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Rosemount Youth Commission was held on Wednesday, December 19, at 3:46 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Parks & Recreation Department, 13855 South Robert Trail, Rosemount. Chairperson Zack Eichten called the meeting to order with Youth Commissioners Simmering, Olson, Alex, Drew and Neuens attending. Staff Liaison Emmy Foster and Council Liaison Jeff Weisensel were also present. Youth Commissioners Nelson and Alternate Narloch were absent. CONSENT AGENDA Motion called to approve the consent agenda. Motion by Eichten. Second by Olson. Motion to approve the consent agenda. Ayes: 6 Nays: 0 Absent: Nelson and Narloch. Motion carried. OLD BUSINESS a. Follow Up Regarding Christmas Tree Lighting John Loch of the Rosemount Area Arts Council stated the event went well. In the future, the Mayor would like for the church to be lit up. John suggested better steps be used for the sleigh and that the event be held on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. The Commission should advise John Loch if they are interested in partnering up to start a swing dance project at the Steeple Center. He also updated the Commission about the opening of the Front Porch. Maureen Asleson gave the group a tour of the Park & Recreation facilities. NEW BUSINESS a. Parks and Recreation Update Dan Schulz provided an update on Parks and Recreation improvements and projects for 2013. REPORTS Council member Jeff Weisensel attended the NLC conference in Boston and met with youth delegates from other areas of the country. While there was some good round tabling and sharing of ideas, he felt that it was not the best venue and it was a bit light on substance. The next meeting of the Youth Commission is scheduled for January 23, 2013 at 3:45p.m. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to discuss, it was moved by Commissioner Eichten and seconded by Simmering that the meeting be adjourned.
