HomeMy WebLinkAbout20121024 YCRM MinutesROSEMOUNT YOUTH COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING PROCEEDINGS OCTOBER 24, 2012 CALL TO ORDER Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Rosemount Youth Commission was held on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at 3:44 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 2875 145th Street West, Rosemount. Chairperson Zack Eichten called the meeting to order with Youth Commissioners Drew, Simmering, Narloch, Olson, Alex and Nelson attending. Staff Liaison Emmy Foster was also present. Youth Commissioner Neuens was absent. CONSENT AGENDA Motion called to approve the consent agenda. Motion by Eichten. Second by Olson. Motion to approve the consent agenda. Ayes: 7 Nays: 0 Absent: Neuens. Motion carried. OLD BUSINESS None. NEW BUSINESS a. Rosemount Area Arts Council John Loch explained how RAAC was formed as a "task force" for the arts. He shared the events and activities that they are working on. The group discussed the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. Also discussed was the possibility of a swing dancing event possibly in the spring. b. Impact Lives Pastor Bill Goodwin shared information about Impact Lives, a non -profit humanitarian group. On March 2, 2013, an event is taking place in Rosemount Middle School gym and Rosemount Elementary School gym. The hope is that it will bring the community together for a good cause and also to help people both locally and internationally. Their goal is to raise between $60,000 and $70,000 and pack 285,000 meals to be shipped over to the people of the Dominican Republic. Food will also be collected on that day to help support the local food shelf. REPORTS Special work meetings will be arranged as needed to work on the December 1" event. The next regular meeting of the Youth Commission is scheduled for November 28, 2012 at 3:45p.m. in the conference room at City Hall. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to discuss, it was moved by Commissioner Eichten and seconded by Alex that the meeting be adjourned.
