HomeMy WebLinkAbout20111221 YCRM MinutesROSEMOUNT YOUTH COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING PROCEEDINGS DECEMBER 21, 2011 CALL TO ORDER Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a regular meeting of the Rosemount Youth Commission was held on Wednesday, November 21, 2011 at 3:49 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 2875 1451h Street West, Rosemount. Chairperson Nicole Laumer called the meeting to order with Youth Commissioners Eichten, Neuens, Nelson, Hagen, Kutz, Laumer, and Olson attending. Council Liaison Weisensel and Staff Liaison Emmy Foster were also present. Alternate Drew was absent. ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS TO AGENDA Move "Old Business" to start of meeting. Minutes of July 20 2011 removed from agenda. Tour of Police Department moved to end of meeting. Motion called to correct agenda. Motion by Laumer. Second by Kutz. Motion to correct the agenda. Ayes: 7 Nays: 0 Motion carried. OLD BUSINESS 5.a. Discussion of By -laws Subcommittee members Neuens and Eichten read through the proposed changes to the By -laws. Changes involved amending By -laws to allow alternates to be seated in the absence of a commissioner at any regular of special meeting of the Youth Commission. Also, the application process for Youth Commissioners and the term duration were also redefined such that a Youth Commissioner terms run between the May annual meeting of each year. Finally, By -Laws were amended to allow Secretary to perform the duties of the Chair in the absence of the Chair and Vice Chair. Motion called to amend to By -Laws Motion by Neuens. Second by Hagen. Motion to amend the By -Laws. Ayes: 7 Nays: 0 Motion Carried CONSENT AGENDA Motion called to approve the consent agenda. ROSEMOUNT YOUTH COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING PROCEEDINGS DECEMBER 21, 2011 Motion by Laumer. Second by Hagen. Motion to approve the consent agenda. Ayes: 7 Nays: 0 Motion carried. NEW BUSINESS 6.a Discussion of Future Meeting Topics Commission suggested joint activities with local community groups such as the Rosemount National Honor Society, Student Council, the Library, One Book /One Rosemount program, and Community Leaders Group. Commissioners also discussed ideas on making the events to make the local community more aware of the Youth Commission, such as a dodge -ball tournament. NEXT MEETING DATE A calendar of future meeting dates was distributed. The next Youth Commission meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 25 at 3:45 p.m. in the City Hall conference rooms. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to discuss, it was moved by Chairperson Laumer and seconded by Eichten that the meeting be adjourned. The motion carries unanimously and the meeting was adjourned at 4:21 p.m. A tour of the city Police Department occurred upon the conclusion of the meeting.
