REGULAR MEETING PROCEEDINGS
SEPTEMBER 22, 2010
CALL TO ORDER
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the Rosemount Youth
Commission was held on September 22, 2010 at 3:45 p.m. in the Conference Room at City
Hall, 2875 1451h Street West, Rosemount.
Chairperson Brist called the meeting to order with Youth Commissioners Neuens, Kearney,
and Laumer present. Youth Commissioner Carrol, Olson and Erdmann were absent. Staff
present included City Administrator Johnson, Assistant City Administrator Foster and
Communications Coordinator Cox.
CONSENT AGENDA
Motion by Kearney. Second by Brist.
Motion to approve the consent agenda.
Ayes: 4
Nays: 0 Absent: Erdmann, Olson, Carroll. Motion carried.
Motion by Neuens. Second by Brist.
Motion to approve minutes.
Ayes: 4
Nays: 0 Absent: Erdmann, Olson, Carroll. Motion carried.
OLD BUSINESS
Discussion of using social media for city communications. Communications
Coordinator Cox gave a presentation on possible Facebook pages from different cities.
These included examples which showed two way communication and one way
communication. Possible problems were discussed such as legal liabilities and counter
productive activity. The use of Twitter was also discussed. The Commission supported the
idea of the City moving forward with the use of Facebook and not allow comments.
Discussion and adaptations of By -laws. Minor changes were made to the draft. The
Commission supports the final version of the By -laws.
Motion by Kearney. Second by Brist.
Motion to adopt by -laws.
Ayes: 4
Nays: 0 Absent: Erdmann, Olsen, Carroll. Motion carried.
NEW BUSINESS
ROSEMOUNT YOUTH COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING PROCEEDINGS
SEPTEMBER 22, 2010
Discussion was held regarding youth commission meeting dates for school year
2010 -2011. A list of dates was handed out and discussed. Assistant City Administrator
Foster will send out an email of the dates to all members.
REPORTS
The next Youth Commission meeting will be held on October 27th, 2010 at 3:45 p.m. in the
City Hall Conference Rooms.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Youth Commission and upon a motion
by Neuens, second by Brist, the meeting was adjourned at 4:55 p.m.
