SPECIAL MEETING PROCEEDINGS
MARCH 17, 2010
CALL TO ORDER
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a special meeting of the Rosemount Youth
Commission was held on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at 3:45 p.m. in the Conference Room
at City Hall, 2875 1451h Street West, Rosemount.
Chairperson Brist called the meeting to order with Youth Commissioners Olson, Neuens,
Kearney, Erdmann, and Carroll attending. Youth Commissioner Laumer was absent.
Assistant City Administrator Foster and Parks and Recreation Director Schultz were present.

Motion by Neuens. Second by Brist.
Motion to approve Consent Agenda.

Nays: 0. Absent: Laumer. Motion carried.
OLD BUSINESS
5.a. Parks & Recreation
Parks and Recreation Director Schultz introduced himself and gave a presentation on
various Parks and Recreation projects including: Old St. Joe's Campus construction and
improvements, DCTC Soccer Fields, Brockway Park, UMore Ball Fields, Family Resource
Center, Parks and Trails Planning, Greenways and Natural Areas, and possible future
partnership opportunities. Schultz also discussed the Parks and Recreation Commission, its
structure, and how it works with the City Council. Schultz mentioned that the Parks and
Recreation Commission's By -Laws loosely follow Roberts Rules of Order.
5.b. Youth Commission By -Laws
Chair Brist and Secretary Laumer have been working on the By -Laws. Since Secretary
Laumer was not able to attend this meeting, Chair Brist called for a motion to table the
discussion of this item until next month's meeting.
Motion by Carroll. Second by Brist.
Motion to table By -Laws discussion until next month.

Nays: 0. Absent: Laumer. Motion carried.
5.c. Future Agendas
Brist called for discussion items for future meetings. Foster mentioned items that have been
brought up in the past including drug awareness and education, social media, presentations
from other City departments, and a joint meeting with the City Council. The commission
agreed that they would like to invite Community Resource Officer Beth Richtsmeier and
High School Resource Officer Chad Rosa to the meeting.
The Commission discussed not meeting during the months of June, July, and August
because of summer break from school. After further discussion, it was decided that an
informal meeting would be appropriate for the month of July to keep the Commission in
touch with one another.
NEW BUSINESS
No new business was discussed.
REPORTS
7.a. Next meeting date
The next Youth Commission meeting will be held on April 28, 2010 at 3:45 p.m. in the City
Hall Conference Rooms. In addition, it was mentioned that the May meeting is scheduled
for May 261h at 3:45 p.m.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to discuss, Commissioner Brist adjourned the Youth
Commission meeting at 4:36 p.m.
