ISSUE
Staff has compiled a list of new, expanding and closed businesses starting in 2015. It is difficult to compile
the list because the City does not license businesses so there is no centralized database for local businesses.
Often staff is aware of a new business due to sign or building permits being issued. Further, for the last
several years staff has monitored most of the multi-tenant commercial buildings to calculate vacancy rates.
This information has been used to put together the attached list. Staff will continue compiling this
information and providing to the Port Authority, similar to the vacancy rate information on a quarterly
basis.
Regarding the retail vacancy rates, the City is at 9% which is consistent with what we have been
experiencing in the community over the last year. The highest vacancy rate is at the Rosemount Crossing
Center. This has always struggled but the relocation of Anytime Fitness to its own building has
signi
they are working with a new tenant. All of these centers are highlighted in the ICSC brochure should
smaller retailers express interest in Rosemount.
