BACKGROUND:
At the Council Work Session on January 12, 2015, Council directed staff to move forward with micro-
surfacing on roadways within the Prestwick Place 2nd Addition and Prestwick Place 3rd Addition as an
alternative to seal coating. At this time, the plans and specifications are complete and copies are on file in
the Engineering Department.
Staff will be requesting quotes from four contractors that work regionally. Due to the specialized
equipment required for micro-surfacing, there are a limited number of contractors that complete this type
of work. On past projects, Apple Valley has publicly advertised for their micro-surfacing project and only
received one bid. Similar to Apple Valley’s experience, it is possible that the city will only receive one or
two quotes for this project.
The micro-surfacing project is estimated to cost $91,100, which includes 10% indirect costs. The project
is proposed to be funded with the City’s Street Capital Improvement Fund. It is anticipated that this
project will be awarded on June 2, 2015 and construction will be complete by September 1, 2015.
SUMMARY:
Staff recommends that Council adopt a resolution receiving the plans and specifications and ratify the
request for quotes for the 2015 Micro-surfacing Project, Engineering Project ENG0177.

A RESOLUTION RECEIVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS
AND RATIFYING REQUEST FOR QUOTES
FOR 2015 MICRO-SURFACING PROJECT
ENGINEERING PROJECT 0177
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Rosemount has requested the preparation of plans and
specifications for the 2015 Micro-surfacing Project, Engineering Project 0177, and such plans and
specifications have been presented to this Council for approval:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Rosemount,
Minnesota:
1. Such plans and specifications are hereby approved and ordered placed on file in the office
of the City Clerk.
2. Request for quotes is hereby ratified by the Council.
ADOPTED this 20th day of May, 2015.
