ATTACHMENTS: Resolution; Letter of Recommendation; APPROVED BY: ddj Bid Summary RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to Adopt a Resolution Receiving Bids and Awarding the Contract for the 2015 Trail Improvements, Engineering Project 0174, to Aslakson's Blacktopping Services. BACKGROUND: On Friday, June 5, 2015, three bids were received for the 2015 Trail Improvement Project and read aloud publicly. The low bidder is Aslakson's Blacktopping Services who submitted a base bid in the amount of $176,289.20, which is 4.1% higher than the estimated construction cost of $169,255. It is anticipated that the project will begin in July, 2015 and be completed by early -September, 2015. A majority of this project will be funded by the Pedestrian Improvement Fund, with approximately $7,800 being funded by the Storm Water Utility Fund. SUMMARY: Staff recommends that Council adopt the attached resolution receiving the bids and awarding the contract for the 2015 Trail Improvement, Engineering Project 0174. All bids on the repair and reconditioning of the 2015 Trail Improvement Project are hereby received and tabulated. 2. The base bid of Aslakson's Blacktopping Services in the amount of $176,289.20 for the construction of said improvements is in accordance with the plans and specifications and advertisement for bids, and is the lowest responsible bid and shall be and hereby is accepted. 3. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with said bidder for the construction of said improvements for and on behalf of the City of Rosemount. 4. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all bidders the deposits made with their bids, except that the deposit of the successful bidder and the next two lowest bidders shall be retained until a contract has been executed.
