BACKGROUND:
On February 9, 2015, the City Council reviewed the need to replace the City Hall generator and directed
the preparation of plans and specifications for the installation of a new stand-by emergency generator. As
discussed, the current generator in addition to being 29 years old with parts becoming obsolete does not
provide adequate stand-by power for City Hall including the Police Department in the event of a power
outage. This stand-by generator also operates the city's largest sanitary sewer lift station, Lift Station No. 1
located at the lower level entrance to City Hall in the event of a power outage.
At this time plans and specifications have been prepared for City Council consideration to authorize the
advertisement for bids for the project. Plans and specifications are on file in the Public Works
Department. The project includes the following major items:
200 kW sound attenuated generator set
Two (2) 208 volt transfer switches
400 amp and 225 amp circuit breakers
Concrete pad (constructed)
Miscellaneous conduit
Wiring
The new generator is proposed to be located at the upper east side of City Hall next to the HVAC units.
The estimated construction cost is $224,000 which includes a 20% contingency. The project cost will be
funded by the Building CIP and Sanitary Sewer Utility Fund.
SUMMARY:
Staff recommends Council receive the plans and specifications and authorize the advertising for bids for
the City Hall Generator Project, Engineering Project 0176.

RESOLUTION 2015 -
A RESOLUTION RECEIVING THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS
AND AUTHORIZE ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS FOR
CITY HALL GENERATOR
ENGINEERING PROJECT 0176
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Rosemount has ordered the preparation of plans and
specifications for the City Hall Generator Project, Engineering Project 0176, and such plans and
specifications have been presented to this Council for approval:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Rosemount,
Minnesota:
1. Such plans and specifications are hereby approved and ordered placed on file in the office of the
City Clerk.
2. The City Clerk shall prepare and cause to be inserted in the official City newspaper and the
Finance and Commerce an advertisement for bids upon the making of such improvements
under such approved plans and specifications for Engineering Project 0176.
3. The advertisement shall be published in each of said publications at least once not less than one
1) weeks before the date set for opening bids, specified the work to be done, stating the bids
will be publicly opened on July 10, 2015 at 10:00 o'clock a.m. at the Rosemount City Hall in said
City, and that no bids will be considered unless sealed and filed with the City Clerk and
accompanied by a cash deposit, cashier's check, bid bond or certified check payable to the City
Clerk for five (5%) percent of the amount of such bid.
4. Such advertisement for bids is hereby authorized by the Council.
