RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to Adopt a Resolution Receiving Bids and Awarding
the Contract for the City Hall Generator Project, Engineering Project 0176, to Northern Air
Corporation
BACKGROUND:
On Friday, July 10, 2015, two bids were received for the City Hall Generator Project and read aloud
publicly. The low bidder is Northern Air Corporation who submitted a base bid in the amount of
$144,530.00, which is 12.1% lower than the estimated construction cost of $162,000.
It is anticipated that the project will begin on July 27, 2015 and be completed by January 15, 2016.
SUMMARY:
Staff recommends that Council adopt the attached resolution receiving the bids and awarding the contract
for the City Hall Generator, Engineering Project 0176.

RESOLUTION 2015 –
A RESOLUTION RECEIVING BIDS AND AWARDING CONTRACT
FOR THE CITY HALL GENERATOR
ENGINEERING PROJECT 0176
BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Rosemount, Minnesota, as follows:
1. All bids on the repair and reconditioning of the City Hall Generator are hereby received and
tabulated.
2. The base bid of Northern Air Corporation in the amount of $144,530.00 for the construction
of said improvements is in accordance with the plans and specifications and advertisement for
bids, and is the lowest responsible bid and shall be and hereby is accepted.
3. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with said
bidder for the construction of said improvements for and on behalf of the City of Rosemount.
4. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all bidders the deposits
made with their bids, except that the deposit of the successful bidder and the next two lowest
bidders shall be retained until a contract has been executed.
ADOPTED this 21st day of July, 2015.

Dear Mayor and Council Members:
Bids were received for the above-referenced project on Friday, July 10, 2015, and were opened
and read aloud. Two bids were received. Please find enclosed the bid tabulation indicating the
low bid as submitted by Northern Air Corporation, d/b/a NAC Mechanical and Electrical
Services, Vadnais Heights, MN in the amount of $144,530.00. The Engineer’s Bid Estimate was
$162,000.00.
Barr Engineering displayed an alternate on their plans that each contractor bid on. It will not be
evident if this alternate is required until the project is underway. In the event that the additional
work is required, a change order will be issued to add that cost. Barr Engineering’s
recommendation memorandum describing the alternate is also enclosed.
We recommend that the City Council consider these bids and award a contract in the amount of
$144,530.00 to Northern Air Corporation based on the results of the bids received.
