RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to accept the bid and reject the lone bid due to the bid
price being well over the engineers estimate.
ISSUE
In May of 2015, the City put the Steeple Center (old church) Air Conditioning project out to bid. The City
did not receive any bids for the project even though the City had several companies on the plan holders
list. Some of the companies on the list indicated that due to the detailed carpentry work, they had a hard
time finding a sub-contractor who was interested in the project. Staff discussed this issue with the design
team and it was decided that the carpentry work would be pulled out of the project. The City would then
find a local carpentry contractor to perform that portion of the project.
In June/July of 2015, the City again put the project out to bid and received one bid for the project which
is listed below.

Ebert Construction $ 248,200
The engineer’s estimate for the project was $168,000. Staff is recommending that the City Council receive
the bid and reject the bid due to the bid price being well over the engineer estimate.
SUMMARY
Staff is recommending the City Council accept the bid and reject the lone bid for the project. Staff will
plan to bid this project later this year.
