RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to Approve an Agreement with Soo Line Railroad for a
Roadway Easement at 145th Street West and Authorize the Necessary Signatures.
ISSUE:
City staff requests Council authorization to execute an agreement with Soo Line Railroad, doing business
as Canadian Pacific Railroad, for improvements to the at-grade crossing within the Canadian Pacific
Railroad right-of-way as part of the 145th Street Pedestrian Improvements project, City Project 447.
BACKGROUND:
Please find attached for Council consideration of a roadway and trail easement agreement with Canadian
Pacific Railroad for the roadway and construction of the sidewalk and trail extension on 145th Street West.
The agreement will be acknowledged in consideration of $40,000 for the easement.
A copy of the agreement has been reviewed by the City Attorney.
The western railroad line is owned by Canadian Pacific Railroad and operated by Progressive Rail.
SUMMARY:
Staff recommends Council authorization of the attached agreement with Soo Line Railroad.
